((Yay for cheesy titles!))
"Keep your weapons trained on her at all times. She doesn't need her powers to break your jaw or kill you if you slack off. And just because her powers are weak right now, doesn't mean she can't ram an icicle the size of a bat through your skull!" commanded the prison warden. He was speaking of a dangerous criminal that was being moved to Jump. The prison where she was currently staying, didn't have the necessary means to hold her without risking injury of staff and other inmates. They'd been keeping her in a meat freezer up until this point as a matter of fact, which seemed like the best place because there was only one way in or out- until she discovered the vents.
So she was being relocated to a prison specifically designed to contain super powered criminals. Victoria walked out with an escort of SWAT officers by way of metal claw, a basic device that could be used to ensnare criminals from a distance. They had to avoid direct physical contact with her to avoid the risk of her absorbing their heat for energy. She could whip up a powerful blizzard fast if she had the fuel.
As per their orders, all available guards on duty had their sights trained on her as she was being escorted to the vehicle that would be transporting her to Jump. It was difficult getting it in a hurry, because it had to be built especially for her in order to keep her powers weakened. Still handcuffed, she entered the back of the 'ice wagon' and took her seat where the claw's vicegrip around her neck was released. "Alright. Lock it up!" the warden barked as the doors were shut.
Thinking quickly, Victoria used what available power she could muster to freeze a small hole in one of the walls. She had to be very careful, if she made it too big, someone would notice and her relocation would be delayed. If she wanted to escape, she had to make sure no one notice. So she could only spare a hole about the size of size of a pen. It would take them awhile to get to Jump, so she should be able to build up some energy from the heat assuming the weather was good.
Back against the hole, she brought her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Nothing to do now but wait...
Some time later, she could hear cars in the background. "Looks like the place. See the giant T over there?" she overheard on of the guards say. But little did they know, they would be making an unplanned stop. A group of men knew that their city prison would be getting a new metahuman. These men may or may not have been part of Lord Mob's bunch, or they simply shared his extreme views on metahumans.
In either case, they had set up an ambush point and waited for the truck to get into position before a Molotov Cocktail was hurled from the window of a shabby apartment. It hit the truck, causing the driver to panic for a moment before a truck came barreling into the side, forcing the burning truck into the front fo a store where it came to a halt. "Heat..." Victoria thought, staying in place when she partially froze to the bench inside the back of the truck.
The officers inside the truck piled out and were promptly shot by a man wearing a mask. After they dispatched the guards, the group assembled at the back of the truck where they broke open the lock and yanked the doors open, releasing a cold mist. It took them a moment to see a figure in all that mist, there was no light inside the truck; would have given her heat to use as fuel.
The men raised their weapons and opened fire, not quite as stupid as to reach in there and pull her out. Once their clips were emptied they stopped to check their handiwork, quickly realizing from the lack of blood that something had gone wrong. Using the haze from the mist to her advantage, Victoria cocooned herself in a layer of ice before the men opened fire and shielded herself from their barrage... barely. "Die..." Victoria commanded, breaking up the remains of her ice armor and mentally hurling the shards into her attackers.
None were seriously injured, they were more startled then hurt as she sprang out of the truck and pounced on the closest thug. He screamed once as she wrapped her hands around his throat, quickly absorbing his body heat until he turned to solid ice. "Shoot her quick!" one guy exclaimed as he started to frantically reload his weapon.
A few men didn't even try to waste time, trying to hit her with the butts of their guns. Victoria in turn didn't waste the effort, gracefully moving around their attacks and countering with some kicks targetting their legs, or between them. A couple men got their guns reloaded and took aim, and Victoria grabbed one of their friends and while she absorbed his heat, she froze his body and used it as a shield as his friends opened fire on him.
Using her free hand, Victoria sent a barrage of icicle spikes into the face of one man, then created an ice spike out of the chest of her shield and impaled the remaining thug. A couple men were still alive, they were simply down... but Victoria simply took their body heat. She still had her handcuffs on, prompting her to freeze them until they became brittle and fragile to the point she could just break them off. She heard the whine of a fire engine drawing near. It was time for her to go.
Taking a loaded pistol from one of her now dead attackers, Victoria ducked into an alleyway and took a moment to get her bearrings. Her stomache growled, she was hungry. Another idea the warden had to keep her in a weakened state. "I'll make sure he pays later," she sighed, tucking the pistol into her pants as she nonchalantly walked toward the nearest resturaunt. She was still wearing her prison jumpsuit, so it was only a matter of time before someone called the police, or worse.
She didn't care at the moment. All that mattered right now was getting a nice, juicy burger- she had been craving one for days. Walking into a local burger joint, all eyes were on her. Freezing the doors behind her, she calmly walked to the counter and looked up at the menu. "H-hello. W-w-what can I get you ma'am??" the cashier stammered nervously. May have just been prison garb, or the fact she had frozen the front door behind her and revealed that she was a metahuman.
"I don't care really. Just get me something to eat- preferably something hot and meaty," she replied icily. Watching the workers scramble to make her something she would enjoy. She cast a look over her shoulder and watched as the patrons were literally stricken with fear. What was she going to do? Was she going to freeze them?
"H-here you go," the cashier said handing her a burger just for her.
Victoria ravenously bit into the burger, murmuring contently as the taste washed down her throat. She normally had more restraint when eating, but she was starving. To hell with manners! She greedily gobbled up the burger as fast as she could. "That was delicious, I am pleased," she stated simply, licking her fingers.
"Is there a-anything else I can do for you ma'am?" the cashier tentatively asked. He was being polite, couldn't fault him for trying.
"No. I'm done, but you may live for now," Victoria replied, the room all released a sigh of relief. "But that depends on how fast you get defrosted," Victoria grinned evilly, raising her hands up and releasing freezing cold winds. The room broke into a panic, parents trying to shield their children as Victoria brought her hands around and froze the entire room. They would be fine if like she said, they were defrosted in time. Had the cashier not been so polite, she may have done worse.
Moving the ice from the door, Victoria made her way back onto the street...
