Beating up the bad guys xD
Artemis is a teenage girl with long blond hair and eyes that are a cold slate gray. Her parents were Caucasian and Vietnamese, adding a uniqueness to her features. She almost always has her hair pulled back in a ponytail but when her hair hangs loose, her bangs highlight and shape her face and her hair reaches her lower back. Usually, she meets people with a seemingly bored or uncaring expression, only lightening up after getting to know the person. She carries herself proudly, as if she belongs wherever it is that should be even if she doesn't actually belong there. Combining her usual expression of calm and uncaring with her proud stature, makes her appear to dare someone to question why she happens to be somewhere. Her normal clothes consist of, a white or green T-shirt or tank top with a brown jacket over it. The sleeves of her jacket are always rolled up and she wears faded dark blue jeans. Her boots are black and simple.
Her uniform is rather simple but fitted and designed especially for her. Her mask is green like the rest of her outfit and nearly covers her face completely. Her top is green with a light green arrow on it and has built in stealth tech to turn her entire uniform gray/dark gray for recon and stealth missions. Her green pants are designed with black kneepads for protection and her black boots are nearly identical to the ones she wears out of uniform. Her quiver is strung along her back and her bow is a compound bow designed for accuracy.
There is one additional uniform in her arsenal that she never hopes to use, but will if necessary. It is a modified version of her mother's old uniform. The outfit is mainly a dark orange and brown styled to look similar to a tiger, with gloves and boots included. Around her waist is a black utility belt for storing her various weapons. To complete the ensemble, is a hard mask that covers her forehead, nose, and cheeks. It is designed also to look like a tiger as well as cover some of the main features that would identify her. Across her back, is a single katana designed for when the going gets tough. Additionally, while wearing this uniform, she dons a collar like necklace that has a powerful glamour charm on it designed to make her appear completely caucasian with black hair and a slightly lower pitched voice.
Personality:
Growing up in a type of environment that would destroy most people, has turned Artemis into the type of person who will most likely try to solve a problem by fighting. She has an aggressive attitude and is extremely secretive about her heritage. She'll lie to anyone if it'll protect her secret, even her friends. When it comes to the fact her parents are assassins, she will do quite literally anything to keep it a secret because of the fear that people will hate her because of her family.
She always has an opinion about everything and speaks her mind for the most part. For some reason, she always seems to have a comment about everything, some of them pleasant, the rest....more sarcastic. She's a very defensive person and has a tendency to try and prove herself and this causes arguments quite frequently, even about the stupidest things. The one thing that most people will notice about her is her thin patience and her temper. She isn't very patient with people who lie to make themselves look better, even if it makes her a hypocrite. Her temper is limited to mainly the things that annoy her. When it comes to people looking down on her, watch out. She will get angry, fast, and she'll have no issues shutting someone up. As a hero, her attitude is relatively similar to her attitude as a civilian. She is highly opinionated and has am extreme desire to prove herself. She's willing to shoulder responsibility in order to prove her dedication to whatever it is that she's doing.
Happiness, is a subject better left unmentioned. She isn't the type to know exactly what happiness is because past clouds her mind. If she could allow herself to get comfortable around people, she would be happy having friends that like her for who she is rather than what she can do or who she's related to. She does have a minor sense of humor on occasion and will sometimes crack a joke that may or may not be understood. For her, downtime would be nice even if someone does have to make her sit down and relax.
History:
The youngest child of two assassins, born and raised in Gotham, is just the beginning of her past. Artemis was raised by her father for six years while her mother was in jail. Her mother, Paula, had taken the fall for her husband and was doing the time instead of him. Her father started his 'training routine' about a week after his wife took the fall for his crimes. While Artemis was being raised by her father, her life changed drastically. Her father was a very abusive man, using emotional and verbal abuse whenever possible. He didn't ground her like normal parents, he beat her. A couple times it had gotten bad enough where she almost had to be hospitalized. When he couldn't physically hurt her, he was busy berating her and calling her a failure, tearing a young girl down before she even had the chance to stand back up. During the six years with her father, Artemis was trained to the point that people would probably say it was another form of abuse. She was subjected to a wide variety of tests designed by her father that bordered on criminal. The tests her father put her through varied from the same exercises as a sports team to educational. Educational being along the lines of human anatomy and the effects of various substances on the body (none of that info would be remembered later on). If she failed, she got hurt. The only thing that pushed her to succeed was the fear of her father. Although he did teach her how to use a bow, nothing else good came out of those six years.
When her mother was finally released from prison, things started to change. The relationship between Artemis and her mother was a bit strained at first but in an attempt to keep things semi-normal, Paula not only gave Artemis space when needed but also tried to be an understanding person. The time with her father had scarred the young Artemis and because of that Paula tried to constantly keep Artemis out of trouble without seeming to interfere. Her mother had given up her previous life and kicked her father out of the house. She had overheard the "talk" that her parents had shortly before her father left and it made her want to be a better person then both of them. Her parents talked about custody and who would keep her. Her father bringing up the fact that she had the potential to be a good villain but needed more training. He wanted to take her with him so he could create the perfect non-super villain. Her mother on the other hand, wanted Artemis to live a normal life without the troubles of villainy and with the troubles of a normal little kid. In the end, her mother one the argument.
With her mother crippled, Artemis frequently worried over her and did whatever she could to help, whenever she was around. At school, Artemis wasn't exactly the friendliest of people and didn't really have the ability to call anyone there her 'friend'. Her grades were average at best, as she was constantly spending her nights patrolling instead of studying. Her time was split between school, home, and being a vigilante hero. The reason behind her trying to be a hero was simple. She wanted to make sure people like her father were taken off the street and couldn't pose a problem for people anymore as well as the fact that she wanted to prove that she could be a hero when born into a legacy of villainy. There is also the subconscious enjoyment of the thrill that helps keep her on her current path. Her time as a hero was her little secret and didn't last very long. She operated from the shadows, using her archery skills to detain the bad guys from a distance and she wasn't very well known because she didn't want to be in the spotlight. She kept to the lesser known alleyways when tracking people and tried to stay out of the limelight in an attempt to keep her mother from finding out. She didn't want her mother to know because she would be sick with worry and that wasn't something Artemis could afford. Her mother did have suspicions because like most parents, she checks up on her daughter in the middle of the night and noticed that Artemis wasn't there.
All the stress from about six months of vigilante duty on top of school and home, was beginning to wear on Artemis and her mother saw that she wasn't able to do everything. Her mother was worried for the sake of her daughter and decided on a course of action. Being concerned for her daughter, Paula asked Artemis one favor. Find her own path in life and do what she thinks is right. Artemis agreed and left to find her own way and find a way to put her father in the prison he belonged in. To pay for the expenses she needed to live on her own, Artemis took a few jobs and even found a little piece of information she needed. Her father had been seen in the nearby Jump City and that's where she needed to go. Upon reaching the city, the first thing she would realize is that there were plenty of villains and heroes and the only way to get anything done is to walk the thin line of hero and villain.
Anything else: Trick arrows include: Explosives, Knock-Out Gas, Nets, Tracking Devices, and Electrified arrows. Plus she has a nifty little glamour necklace.
